Let’s shake up the typical chalk on sidewalk and make it puffy with this at home recipe containing ingredients you already have available in your pantry.
The kids went CRAZY for squirting puffy paint onto the patio. It’s not everyday you get free reign to make a mess and they all went HAM. With a little bit of finesse we could have made beautiful designs and images, but this activity was not about finesse. It was about mess and squirting as much paint onto the ground as possible, mixing colors, and laughing our silly little booty butts off.
Just a reminder that art doesn’t have to be perfectly flawless, it’s often just the act of creating that drives joy.
Materials needed:
- 1 cup of all purpose flour
- 1 cup of water
- 1 tablespoon of dish soap
- Food dye
- Squeeze bottle(s)
Mix together ingredients and pour into the squeeze bottles. This is best an activity where the puffy chalk paint is made day-of. I did not try it, but several recipes mentioned the bottles may explode if left overnight. So, an experiment in itself for the very brave.
